OVERVIEW: The Upper East Side has met its match. Bring your sharpest one-liners and your fakest friends to the Dreamland for a special evening with one of New York's funniest voices — author, actress, and Odd Mom Out creator Jill Kargman, live on the Main Theater stage before a screening of her hilarious new film Influenced.

Kargman stars as Dzanielle, a foul-mouthed momfluencer hustling for a million followers among Manhattan's black-card-swiping, workout-addicted elite — until an unexpected friendship cracks open her perfectly curated life. Critics are calling it Mel Brooks meets the Real Housewives: a savagely smart, gleefully sharp comedy with a surprising amount of heart, packed with cameos from Gwyneth Paltrow, Drew Barrymore, Matt Damon, and Jason Biggs, plus a knockout ensemble featuring David Krumholtz, Justin Bartha, Christine Taylor, Jessica Capshaw, and Dan Hedaya.

Before the film begins, we'll start the evening with a very special audience Q&A with Jill herself — about writing the script, wrangling an all-star cast, lampooning the world she actually lives in, and what it really takes to go from bestselling novelist to leading lady. Expect candid stories, wicked humor, and the kind of behind-the-scenes dish you only get in a room this small.

Don’t miss one of the funniest nights of the summer!

Jill Kargman is an author, actress, screenwriter, and producer, and one of the most distinctive comedic voices to come out of New York City. Born and raised in Manhattan, she is best known as the creator, writer, and star of Bravo's hit scripted comedy Odd Mom Out, adapted from her 2007 novel Momzillas — a razor-sharp satire of life among the Upper East Side elite that ran for three seasons.

A graduate of Yale University, Kargman is the New York Times bestselling author of The Ex-Mrs. Hedgefund, the essay collection Sometimes I Feel Like a Nut, and three novels for young readers, along with Arm Candy, The Rock Star in Seat 3A, and the comedic essay collection Sprinkle Glitter on My Grave. Her magazine writing has appeared in Vogue, Elle, Harper's Bazaar, GQ, and many others, and she was a longtime columnist for Style.com.

In 2026, Kargman co-wrote and stars in Influenced, directed by Rachel Israel — her feature debut as a leading lady and a return to the world she's spent her career skewering with affection and bite. She lives in Manhattan with her husband Harry and their three children.
