About the Film
On Nantucket Island, on a frigid winter night
in 1980, Dr. Margaret Kilcoyne disappeared without a trace. The film puts the
pieces of the mystery together through research, interviews, and staying true
to the timeline in which it happened. This island mystery will captivate and
explore why so many questions were left unanswered.
About the Director
Penny Dey has lived on Nantucket Island for
most of her life. Among other things, she has worked as a scalloper, run a
non-profit and has had a long career in real estate. Nantucket is a place with
a strong history and many amazing stories. Although she is not a professional
filmmaker, in 2019 she decided to tell one of these stories through film. Dr.
Winslow's Heart won the Best New Director award at the Nantucket Shorts Film
Festival that year. The film now resides at the Nantucket Historical Association.
Her second short film, Lost in Nevers Land,
was made in 2023 and received the Audience Favorite award at the Nantucket
Shorts Festival that year. It was limited to 10 minutes, so she spent the next
winter making a new film (24 minutes) to tell the complete story of the
disappearance of Dr. Margaret Kilcoyne. Penny was living on the island in 1980
when it happened and wanted to make sure that the story was not forgotten.
Penny is grateful to the talented people at
Nantucket Community Television who helped make her films. Especially to the
very talented Dee White, Creative Director and Editor on all her short films.
