Back by popular demand after their SOLD-OUT show in November, join us at The Dreamland in partnership with the Nantucket Historical Association for an evening of fun and dancing featuring Latino icon and mariachi band leader Veronica Robles and her all-female band as they play the evening away on the second floor of The Dreamland! Cash bar and lite bites will be available for this community concert celebrating the Cinco de Mayo holiday. Bring your dancing shoes and enjoy an evening of Mariachi music!

 

Bio:

Veronica Robles is a Mariachi singer by trade but has become a cultural icon for Latinos in Boston. She has effectively utilized the power of the arts, culture, and multimedia to bring communities together by raising awareness on the importance of diversity and she has empowered the youth by employing them and teaching them about their roots and culture. As a singer, Veronica Robles offers education programs for schools.

Robles is co-founder and director of the Veronica Robles Cultural Center that supports community action and economic growth in East Boston though traditional dance and music programs representing several countries of Latin America. She has received countless awards, the most recent including the Extraordinary Woman In Cultural Enrichment by the Governor of Rhode Island and the 2016 East Boston Woman of The Year by East Boston Times. In the year 2005, the Mayor of Cambridge proclaimed September 17 as Veronica Robles Day. In 2017, Veronica was honored by Mayor Martin J. Walsh with a mural of her in her Mariachi outfit on Paris Street in East Boston.

In 2018, Veronica was awarded the Live Arts Boston grant to support her project, Veronica Robles All-Women Mariachi Band. The mission of this group is to deliver a message of Peace and Unity in all their public performances. In 2019, Veronica Robles released a new music album entitled Cuando sale la luna, recorded with her all-women mariachi band and produced by Willy Lopez.
